The main section within the VII edition, IBIZA SHORTS will be a showcase of the best short films the world has to offer. The winning shorts will be selected by industry experts and judged by a jury of acclaimed actors and directors. Five short film finalists will be screened together at the IBIZA IFF.

Established in 2007, IBIZA IFF (Ibiza International Film Festial) is a cinema event held on the island to showcase and support new and independent filmmakers and producers.

Our patrons include Terry Gilliam, Sir Alan Parker, Angela Molina, Nacho Cano and Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi.

The late John Hurt was the festival’s founding patron. Sir John believed Ibiza was a “magical island” and given the number of artists, writers, actors and directors on the island, it was a “logical” place for a film festival.

“The Independent Spirit” is the IBIZA IFF’s motto. Suggested by producer Jonathan Debin, it reflects the festival and the island’s ethos.

The Falcó d'Or is the IBIZA IFF’s symbol and award. It represents an Eleonora's Falcon, a species that nests in the cliffs of Ibiza and Formentera, and recalls the Maltese Falcon by John Huston.

Falcó d'Or Honorary Awards have been presented to Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi, John Hurt and Terry Gilliam.
